MSME Interest Calculator
Calculate interest on delayed payments to MSME vendors, using monthly compounding and the RBI Bank Rate that applied in each period.
You need
An invoice list with invoice number, vendor name, invoice amount, GRN date, payment terms (days) and payment date.
You get
MSME_Working.xlsx (sheet “MSME Working”) with one row per rate period and an “Interest Total” row for each delayed invoice.
Your file stays in your browser tab. The tool reads and processes it there and does not upload it. The page loads the SheetJS library from cdnjs.cloudflare.com, so it needs an internet connection to open. How privacy works
How to use it
- Upload a .xlsx, .xlsm, .xls or .csv file; choose the source sheet and the row where data starts.
- Map the columns: Invoice No, Vendor Name, Invoice Amount, GRN Date, Payment Terms (days) and Payment Date. All are required.
- Review the RBI Bank Rate table. Choose “Yes — edit rates” to add, change or remove rows. Each effective date must be unique.
- Press Generate MSME Working, review the summary and table, then Download MSME Working Excel.
What the calculation does
- Due date = GRN date + payment terms. Payment terms longer than 45 days are treated as 45.
- MSME rate = RBI Bank Rate × 3 (for example, 6.50% → 19.50%).
- Interest runs for invoices paid after the due date. It is split into periods at each month-end and each rate change, and the interest of each period is added to the principal for the next (monthly compounding). It uses 365 days a year.
- Days are counted from the due date through the payment date, both included.
Rows that produce no output
- Rows with a missing or unreadable GRN date or payment date are skipped — so invoices that are still unpaid are not included.
- Invoices paid on or before the due date have no interest and do not appear.

Check the rate table before you rely on the result. The built-in table lists RBI Bank Rate changes up to 5 December 2025 (5.50%); dates before 7 February 2025 use its oldest entry (6.75%). The RBI has announced changes since then, so for any period after 5 December 2025, or before February 2025, confirm the rates on the RBI website and add them under “Yes — edit rates”.
